ISTANBUL
Due
to her geographic location, Istanbul has always been a
settlement area from early ages onwards. And besides
connecting the two continents, Europe and Asia, Istanbul has
become a center where various cultures and religions are
combined, surrived and succeeded each other.
Istanbul of the
day conforms the definition of a great city, not only with
her population and the area she covers but also with the
variety of cultures and ways of living. This cultural
structure which enables a good number of elements that
contradict with each other and yet exist together even one
in another, is the produce of an accumulation of about one
thousand years. Although first settlements in Istanbul were
observed in prehistoric periods, continual settlements,
however, have started in the colonial period. Foundations of
Istanbul of our days were laid during recent periods of the
Roman Empire. Byzantium and Ottoman periods are the most
significant stages in the history of Istanbul. In both of
these periods, Istanbul has preserved her features of being
a political and religious center and has become the
religious center of both, the Christianity and the Islam.
Therefore, she was ornamented with many great monuments with
different functions belonging to these
two religions. Although Ankara was elected to be the capital
during the Republic period, Istanbul conserved her
characteristic of being the cultural capital.
Istanbul Nightlife
Beyoğlu has been the site of
drinking, dancing, theatre, debauchery and other non-Muslim
pastimes in Istanbul for centuries. In contrast,
there are few decent nightlife haunts in tourist-dominated
Sultanahmet. Although Beyoğlu developed a
reputation for seediness in the 1980s, Istanbul's
huge youth population and the spirit of liberalism
has ensured the district's recovery, with the clip
joints and strip clubs rolling back off Istiklal
Caddesi to make room for more nightclubs, wine bars
and jazz venues. Clubs and bars open, close and
change name faster than you can say
‘Constantinople' but there is a growing trend for
pricey, trendy rooftop bars especially around Beyoğlu
and Ortaköy. Technically, the drinking age is 18
years but identity cards are rarely checked.

i've stayed in this hotel 2 times. the room is
comfortable, location is in the heart of istanbul. but
in this hotel first of all the most important thing is
the staff kindness... on my second time guest relation
has introduced me to the receptionist they welcomed me
in a politeness... and they prepared room as my last
stayment. i asked for ergonomic pillow on my first
time, when i came back to hotel for my second trip
they've already put the pillow just before i've
entered room. so they're giving the personelized
service... by the way rate, comfortable and the staff
quality perfect!!! i reccomend this hotel to my
friends...… More
